  • what exactly does this disease do? can you understand everything and is it actually you replying? no offence, and i wish you the best and hope u have a happy life.

  • Lesch-Nyhan is a really tragic case to have, really tragic. This patient has hyperuricemia, a buildup of uric acid in the blood and urine due to an enzyme problem. The problem is, uric acid or urate, is NOT very water soluble at all, so it precipitates in blood vessels, kidneys, joints and nerves and so on, almost every single cell in the body has this pathway going. Everything is just immensely painful for this patient, its a really tragic case, people usually succumb to this disease early on

  • god bless you.

  • @pbaker1971 I admire you for your strength in your struggle with this illness. Keep fighting, you're an inspiration for having beaten the odds with this horrible disease.

  • Are you able to able to understand and articulate the desire to self-abuse? Often times self-abusive behavior is a mechanism to reduce another form of pain (e. g. giving oneself physical pain to reduce emotional pain). The fact that such young children with this disease are self-abusive, even without being put under duress, is puzzling. Does this disease somehow cause you to feel constantly stressed? The only comparable disease in this regard I can think of is trichotillomania.

  • so how did you manage to have this syndrome?

  • My brother (age 36) has LNS, and he looks so much like Philip!

  • Moro no Brasil e o meu enteado tem a sindrome de Lesch nyhan
