There's a small tab inside the backing that I thought probably had a tooth holding this backing down. It looks like a peninsula, it's a square connected to the rest of the backing by only one side. I took a sharp knife and cut to the left of the little peninsula, making a groove. This helped me bend the peninsula up with a knife, prying the tooth up and letting me slide the backing out.

I had to bend mine to about a 45 degree angle and hold it like that for a bit before it finally moved.

While not trying to replace it, I bent my clip too far and broke it. I couldn't get the remaining black plastic out of the superflash.
