@cbartock777 I hope you keep questioning what God's purpose is too.

I have to believe a job and life are very different. A Dr. heals you of a deadly illness, I think there are some praises coming. Someone saves you from death, you are praising them. Anyone can get a job with effort. Life is so different from earning a living. You need to continue to question God about His existence. Seeking God will change your heart and your beliefs. Only God can give you the answer you are looking for. I pray you continue seeking Him, WITH ALL your heart!!

@cbartock777 If we praise God simply because he created us then we are celebrating OUR existence, not His. If we do not ask the question, what is God's ultimate purpose, then we are simply wallowing in our own pride.
Do you sit at your desk all day just praising your boss for giving you a job, or do you do your best to fulfill the purpose of the company?

I am not sure I am coming at this question from the same angle as you. When you are a product of a Creator, you the creature need to understand why the Creator made you. In this case, God who is sovereign needing nothing, created us for the purpose of bringing glory to Him. Only human pride allows us to imagine that we can think like Him. What purpose does He serve as we are concerned? Jesus answered that, "without me you are nothing." If for no other reason, God exists, so that you can exist!

@cbartock777 "God exists because He is" Yes this seems to sum up what the bible says.
If I am to put God 'above all else'. Then questions about my existence are not important. 'Why do I exist' is not the 'real question' at all. Why does God exist IS the ultimate question.

@Hufflewaffle All the questions you could ask are answered in the Bible. It is a manual for how to live and what we need to survive. God exists because He is. The real question is why do you exist? The answer to that is found in the Bible, to bring glory to God. You need to get a version of the Bible, NIV for one, that you can understand, and begin reading it. Start in the gospel of John, in the New Testament. Ask God to answer your questions as you read it. God loves you, Christ died for you!

@visionfudge So God has no discernible purpose. He just is.
ok. thanks.

the more important and intersting question is why are we born?
why do we die is pretty obvious..
So why does God exist?

@Hufflewaffle Honestly, I don't know how to answer that question. All I know is without God, nothing exists. So I guess you could say, God has to exist. By His own definition, God just is. I don't know if that helped you any, but that's the best I can give you at this time. Thanks for your comment.

How do we know what Gods law is? And I bet everyones guilty of breaking it anyways.
dziredeffekt 1 year ago
@dziredeffekt Gods law is the 10 Commandments. You can read these in Exodus 20 in the Bible.
And you're absolutely right, everyone HAS broken them. Can any of us truly say we've never stolen something? We've never lied? We've never used Gods name in vain?
The law is like a mirror. Against the 10 Commandments (Gods law) we see we're not as clean as we like to think we are. We've all fallen short. But God provided a way out - His Son, Jesus Christ. Trust Him, turn from sin and you will be saved.
