Transcendental Meditation in schools is helping to overcome classroom stress, learning disorders and bullying. Transcendental Meditation was brought to the world by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

What Transcendental Meditation Is and Is Not

Transcendental Meditation is a simple, natural, effortless, easily learned technique practiced silently for 15 to 20 minutes twice a day, sitting comfortably in a chair with the eyes closed. During the practice, the mind settles down, experiencing finer levels of thought, until it transcends the finest level of thought and experiences the source of thought, pure consciousness—the unified field—the source of the unlimited creativity and intelligence expressed in human life and in nature. The TM technique is not a religion or philosophy and does not involve concentration, control of the mind, or change in lifestyle (see http://www.tm.org).

Validation: Scientific Research and NIH Grants

During the past 30 years, more than 600 scientific research studies validating the benefits of the Transcendental Meditation technique have been conducted in 33 countries at 210 independent research institutions and universities, including Harvard, Stanford, and UCLA Medical School. These studies, more than 125 published in leading peer-reviewed scientific journals, show that the Transcendental Meditation program provides benefits for mind and body that are highly relevant to improving educational outcomes. The National Institutes of Health has granted over $21 million to researchers studying the effects of the Transcendental Meditation technique in reducing high blood pressure and other risk factors for heart disease (see http://www.truthabouttm.org).

Transcendental Meditation in Education

The Transcendental Meditation program is a powerful and innovative new educational tool for systematically dissolving stress and developing the inner potential of students and teachers. Transcendental Meditation has been successfully implemented in public and private schools and in after-school programs across the U.S. and around the world, with thousands of students enjoying its benefits (see http://www.mum.edu).

  • I want to learn TM. It's unfair that it's so expensive. Why should only the rich get to learn this? $200 would be a much more reasonable price, or even $500. But $1500???? Not all of us have that kind of pocket change hanging around.

  • @zyxdonna We offer reduced rates for students, couples, families, children, and those under financial hardship. Visit TM.org or call 1-888-LEARN TM (1-888-532-7686) to learn more.

  • Hi,is there a TM centre in newcastle upon tyne? I would like to try the TM techinque.

I practice other mantra meditations and the effects are very similar to what these students say about TM.

  • These people have great fortune in their lives

  • As I know TM is the opposing of focusing. It is about letting it go.

  • this is called the art of slowing down and focusing in on your life.

  • TM is the best. I love how people are willing to share their experiences on youtube. People used to think meditation wasn't cool. But it's clear from listening to these people that TM really is something special.

  • Yeah, I hear people get some nice results with other techniques. I prefer TM myself. I heard of a girl who wanted to learn TM but didn't have any money. So she got a job, saved for a bit, then learned the technique. And I believe she didn't have any regrets....

    I love it!
