The Display Scope is the pyrotechnic new cold war epic with that cool and easy urban retro lounge vibe from Lyn Faber (or whatever; Lyndon Lorenz. You figure it out) featuring high-tech national defense systems and totally awesome stuff blowing up!

The original music was laid down in GarageBand with heavy dippage into stock beats off an AMG disc. Once all that music stuff was mushed up round all real good, it was synchronized to the video footage in iMovie5, taking about 30 hours from start to finish. And boy o boy: the free public domain source reels from The Prelinger Archive at www.archive.org sure came in handy:

-- On Guard: The Story of SAGE (1956) for just about everything
-- Operation Cue (1955) for the mannequins and the stuff blowing up
-- DEW Line Story (1956) for the animated USA

You know this file is going to be pretty outrageous when viewed in full screen, which means that if you've read it this far, you know what to do. So do it. And thanks.

  • Love it- really interesting. And good points made well. Kudos!

  • Glad you like it Mak, thanks!

  • Sometimes art doesn't fall into any particular bag.. It's just great art! I like the dropped beats in the music, seeing those bunkies scrambling themselves and the fighter jets and the whole package wrapping up politically as subtle as a jackhammer. Where can I get my display scope?

  • Thanks PlanetAndy, am glad you like the dropped beats since most of them are mistakes and I had to camouflage them as best I could! Glad they worked out OK!

  • Yes it's all over the musical landscape here ...but if you come up with a better way to phrase it please let me know, and thanks for watching!

  • Prog sampling mentioned on your page, prog song in the tags, and for the soundtrack....easy jazz?

Missiles would probably have a better name if they played this on mounted speakers to pacify passerbys before perniciously permeating them. A bit of jazz makes everything alright.
