Lyrics:
On Raglan Road of an autumn day
I saw her first and knew
That her dark hair would weave a snare
That I might one day rue
I saw the danger and I passed
Along the enchanted way
And said let grief be a fallen leaf
At the dawning of the day
On Grafton Street in November
We tripped lightly along the ledge
Of a deep ravine where can be seen
The worth of passion's pledge
The Queen of Hearts still making tarts
And I not making hay
Oh I loved too much and by such by such
Is happiness thrown away
I gave her gifts of the mind
I gave her the secret signs
Known to the artists who have known
The true gods of sound and stone
And word and tint I did not stint
I gave her poems to say
With her own name there
And her own dark hair
Like clouds over fields of May
On a quiet street where old ghosts meet
I see her walking now
Away from me so hurriedly my reason must allow
That I had loved not as I should
A creature made of clay
When the angel woos the clay
He'll lose his wings at the dawn of day

How can anybody put up a dislike on this, I'll never know. A man who sung with his heart. Luke Kelly, Ronnie Drew & the Dubliners, The Clancy Brothers, an era that will be sadly missed. May their legend's and their music live on forever & my God bless them all for giving us their music & talents. They all will be sadly missed.

This song was written by the great Irish Poet, Wit, Racentour,Journalist, drinker, Patrick Kavanagh,,he himself asked Luke to record the song,I actually have a recording of Kavanagh singing it himself,,Kavanagh was from Iniskeen In Co Monaghan, and has many poems, books, articles attributed to him, he died almost penniless in Dublin,,There are many monuments to him and I would consider him as one of the great Irish writers of thhe 20th century.

Once in a lifetime voice....listen to Luke sing Auld Triangle and then compare it to Bono,D.Dempsey,Glen Hansard, sinead o'connor and the Pogues and although all amazing artists none can sing with the same passion as the legend that is Luke Kelly

Very much so though he was also a drunk and a rapscallion this in no way takes away from his genius. He proposed to my grandmother though it is said he would propose to anyone for a drink.
