A documentary of pictures of my Orthognathic Jaw Surgery completed on June 10, 2008 to correct my overbite. The surgery was done in 5 hours at the Ohio State Medical Center by Dr.Larson and his staff of doctors. I could not eat food for 6 weeks and was on a liquid diet. If you have any further questions about this surgery or if you are planning to have it and want advice feel free to e-mail me at the address provided at the end of the video.

The Procedure:
-Broke both my Upper and Lower Jaws
-Put in Titanium Metal "L" Shaped Plates to hold my jaws in place
-Inserted screws through holes in my cheeks that they created to hold my jaw in place
-Put in a retainer that stays in for 8 weeks after surgery and goes through the gums to make the body learn about the new mouth placement and recover correctly. This apparatus must be surgically removed in a small operation only requiring sedation for a few minutes.
-Adjusted the distance between my nose and upper lip arch for maximum results

All of this was done to correct an overbite that I genetically received that could not be fully remedied through Orthodontic treatment and to prevent future consequences such as TMJ, Sleep Apnea, and many more...

-The Song is Called Kiss Me,I'm Shitfaced by Dropkick Murphys

  • Can you tell me how long your jaw was numb for? I am getting this surgery in a month and I want to estimate my recovery time.

  • @MrMusicboy92 Jaw was numb making it awkward to eat for the first 3 or 4 weeks but I could manage. All the numbing sensation wont go away for 6 months to 1 year. My chin in the very middle took the longest to become un-numb; 6 months to 1 year.

  • You were hot before and you're hotter after. Are the titanium L plates permanent?

  • how much does this cost?

  • it looks like over time your bottom lip moved into better position with the top lip... is that the case or is it just my imagination? How did that happen?

  • So was it worth the hell? I had a jaw expander inserted to correct a crossbite. It had a little key at the top of my mouth that I had to turn to expand the jaw. Felt like I had been punched the face for 6 months.

In the end, a waste of money, time, and suffering complications.

  • Great for you man! You look great now! Congrats!

  • @brendanb89 What's TMJ?
