Commissioner Luna's Opinion : Downtown Truth or Consequences

T or C's newest (and youngest) city commissioner rides roughshod over city and county commissioners during a joint session to create a legal document which would promote the siting of The Sierra County Spaceport Welcome Center in downtown Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Pay particular attention to her decsription of downtown business owners, and her opinion of the ability of their enterprises to provide adequate services for Spaceport visitors. Remember... this is a commissioner who is supposed to represent this community, and be working to promote commerce and a positive public image.

Some local business owners cannot do anything, including comment on posted video clips, without using the opportunity to take cheap shots at others while advertising their goods or services. There is no worthwhile purpose behind the competition for scarce dollars when it amplifies the resentment and animosity of local residents. The point of this video was to clearly demonstrate that there is an intent to locate the future Spaceport Welcome Center outside the downtown area.

I officiated at a wedding recently where 50 people flew in for this wedding, all of whom stayed 3-5 days here in T or C and fell in love with the place! People who come into Celestial Creations are always greeted in a friendly, helpful manner. Myrna has spoken about the lack of support for downtown T or C businesses, and it seems her own family is at much at fault for that as anyone. Do YOU shop locally? Certainly not in my establishment, which has been here for five years.

The downtown cheerfully handles hundreds of people every day during the off season and thousands per day during the holidays and festivals. Luna has no credibility. Nobody can forget the trash on her MySpace page until she cleaned it up for her election campaign. The lady nodding her head to the left of Looney just got voted out, so Looney better see the writing on the wall.
