This debate is more of the moderator talking then any discussion from harris or hedges.

And he is quite an asshole.  Hitchens and Harris will apologize when someone points out in inaccurate accusation they made. Hedges writes hit pieces based on sentences culled out of context, i.e. he goes on talk shows claiming Harris supports a nuclear first strike against middle eastern countries.

I have never gotten a coherent argument for Hedges.

And for one thing, I don't see how one can be thoroughly disgusted by American evangelicals, i.e. calling them "fascists", and apologetic toward a religion that is at least as absolutist, i.e. Islam. Is it merely because the first group help elect Republicans? Is it really that shallow? That group used to be primarily Democrats, and does include Bill Clinton.

I agree, Christians killed plenty when they had the power in the Dark Ages, The Pope made heresy a capital crime for centuries. 5 miles from where I live Christian Catholics burned to death 17 Protestants, including women. The Enlightenment in the 1700s ended Christian religious killing, and established the supremacy of science. Islam has yet to enjoy its enlightenment.

@outlaw87100 You could say the exact same about the Old Testament and to a lesser extent the New one and people will still deny it or say that it's not to be understood in that manner. Religious people choose to believe what makes them feel good and ignore what is shameful. The only difference is that Islamists are more likely to act on the passages that order the killing of other religions than, say, Christians. But they're both still wrong.

Got into a debate with an idiot Muslim on the video "Bill O'Reilly gets owned by Lupe Fiasco" I told him Islam was a religion of terror and the Qu'Ran condoned violence. He asked me to post one verse. I posted like 20.. He then said i misconstrued the words. I think the owrds "we will bring terror to the infidel" is pretty sharp and to the point
