I find your opinion odd. You claim that there are 2 groups fighting towards the same end, however, and your post may have come before the most recent developments, the Republicans I've seen since Obama's election have not been the same part we saw support GWB. The Republican part has fast returned to being the party of the people: of small government, free enterprise, and free will.
Admittedly, they are probably only doing it out of necessity, but still. It's proof of concept, and of practice.
