A character being scarred because of the loss of his family and entire clan with a thrist of vengeance that eventually fulfilled by killing the first Sub-Zero and when the younger brother of that Sub-Zero came around, Scorpion decided to become the protector of the new Sub-Zero to honor the former's memory, all that unkowingly that he had been manipulated by Quan-Chi

And Ryu is just a hobo that travels around to become the best fighter.... a really three dimensional character eh?

Ticr is wrong about Scorpion, and you're wrong about Ryu. Ryu isn't all about becoming the best fighter, he wants to become his best self. There's a void vs. chaos struggle occurring within him as he masters the hadou. He also has interesting relationships with his rivals.

You still didn't convince me on why Scorpion is better just because of the vengeance aspect when he could of just listen to Raiden when he told him not to kill Sub-Zero when he could of brought his clan back to life in the Mortal Kombat reboot and he still didn't. Second of all, Ryu doesn't care about the title which is why he dips out on every award ceremony possible and Ryu just lives to fight just for the self-improvement preserve its culture through respect and honor...
