Ellen is New Idol Judge

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres announced that she will replace Paula Abdul as a new judge on American Idol. US Weekly's Bradley Jacobs spoke about the surprise announcement.

I have to admit when I first heard that Ellen was gonna be an idol judge I was pretty excited and was sure she would be perfect for it. But after her appearnce on idol last year I felt that maybe I was wrong. As much as I love Ellen and think she's hilarious, she really didn't add anything at all to the show or make it more interesting (ironic I know). I think she made the right decision to quit the show.

excuse me its NOT about being ABLE TO SING a song just because you cant sing doesnt mean you have ears for music, stop dissing ellen im 100% sure if your favorite celebrity couldnt sing youd be totally happy about it shes not stupid she just cant sing

I've been thinking about why ellen was chosen for the show and I've been trying to think of good reasons for her... I think she knows a lot about stage presence and performance (since she's worked in front of people since.... practically forever...) so she is able to judge that. It's not 100% about the voice - you can have a great voice but be totally awkward on stage and you're not going to win with that. It's about finding someone who can appeal to people and know how to work a crowd too.

I live in England so its not really my position to comment but I WILL. as much as I liked what i saw from Paula Abdul yeah its a shame to see her leave but the fact that the decision was already made that she was not returning so we cant do anything to bring her back we have to move on. So i think Ellen has become the best decision that could have been made i dont know who else would have been good like Ellen..perhaps it will be better than some people think, wait until we SEE Ellen on there XD

Time will tell. Never mind, she can't sing or do anything musical. Neither can Simon. Plus he can't read music, write music, or play an instrument. I personally prefer Paula, but, oh well, what can you do. The AI producers wanted Paula out & set things up so she had no choice but to decline the contract as presented to her. A shame, but it happens all too often in show biz.
