I know what you mean about it not telling anything about the story... But that's the thing, it's NOT a trailer... It's just a little preview.
(I think it was mainly to show the high resolution quality of the RED1 camera's being used, and to dispel any similarity to another similarly named production.)
Personally I'll be watching this again and again as it looks like it will be absolutely stacked full of real pool players, and the whole movie will be a "fest" of cameo spotting!
Got to say not a fan of this trailer (and probably the film). We don't learn anything about the film (some details would be nice). And to be honest some of the acting sucks as well. For example, at 0:43Jeanette is meant to be a high standing player or something to that effect. Why would they get so excited over making a normal shot in a minor game? Just looks terrible.
I think there will be several "product placements" involved and maybe that will make it even more believable when we see the whole thing? It would certainly guarantee a kick start to the viewing figures if everyone on the APA went to see it on the opening night wouldn't it?
Early days yet... It's a nice preview from the first few days of filming, nothing more. I'm impressed with the high quality resolution of the pictures, but they haven't filmed enough to make a proper trailer yet, that's why there's no husky voice-over teasing us with tid-bits of the plot.
That is the worst trailer I have ever seen. It doesn't tell you anything about the plot or even show any cool shots. I don't count the jumpshot on the 5/9 combo. I could have done that.
I know I always look out for Willie Mosconi's non-speaking 2 second cameo when I'm watching "The Hustler", and here's a film that's going to be filled with moments like that - Cool!
Maybe you'll need to be a real "pool buff" to love this film - but that shouldn't be a problem, as it's one of the most popular sports/games played world-wide!
Just my "2cents" - ICBW
