@jamtoim Not exactly a traditional frevo, but I played it sometimes on a big band wich the arranger kept the "frevo" feel and rythmic pattern, and it sounds very fine too! Let's compare: THis "frevo" is frevo like Floyds "Money" "or "Shine on you crazy" is blues. Both are and aren't traditional frevo and blues, but instead a new kind of music inspired by traditional folk styles. Was my comment useful to you?

Of course, Gismonti´s work is a classical one and differs from the popular tunes you hear during carnival season in Recife City, Pernambuco , however the foundation is the same.

"Frevo" is the Portuguese word "Fervo" when mispronounced. And "fervo" literally means "I boil", that is, I´m in a frenzy, I´m in a trance, I´m transported.

This music is quite suggestive and just listening to it will give you the feeling.

The musical style originates from Pernambuco State in Brazil. It´s a very popular and very present style.
