  • Hello, I have the F1 knife in black finish with leather sheath. Out of the box, the edge was very sharp. Now, over a year since I purchased it, I still can not get the F1's convex edge back to sharp condition; I know it's not the knife's fault, and has to do with my skill and experience (lack of)in blade sharpening. To possible buyers of this knife: if you are not a good sharpener, do not buy this knife, get a carbon steel knife instead!

  • @cooksecurities Hi bud, thanks for leaving a comment but I would have to disagree - I would argue that the F1 knife can be easy and cheap to sharpen even for beginners once you know how. I appreciate that everyone might not know how to sharpen different bevels, but the good news is you don't need much in order to sharpen the F1 - You basically need a foot-long piece of flat wood, a mouse-mat some wet'n'dry paper (which is like sand paper) and a bit of oil (this is optional).

  • @cooksecurities How to sharpen a convex blade is a really good question so maybe it's worth me doing a future video on it? Also if you pop into our Forum at Natural-Bushcraft and ask this question we will be happy to give you details explanations on how to do it with the equipment I mentioned, unfortunately I'm limited to 300 characters in these comments. All the best,

    - Ashley Cawley.

  • @NaturalBushcraft The idea of making a video on how to sharpen a Convex blade sounds very good! I would love to see the video coming up soon ;)

  • A lot of false info here in the comments. Being the awesome dude I am I'm going to clear things up for ya:

    1. The F1 is the pilot survival knife.

    2. VG10 is ONLY made in Seki City, Japan. Fallkniven knives are manufactured in Japan, to Swedish specs. Earlier versions was in ATS34 steel and manufactured in Solingen, Germany.

    3. The laminated steel is not folded the same way you fold damascus steel, it is (duh) laminated!

    4. Fallkniven is pronounced "Fell-Knee-Venn". The "k" is not silent.

  • @roaringwaterbay What are you, a Common Crossbill?

    - Ashley.
