Charcot Marie Tooth Disease

Made for my Biology class at DHS in 2000. My best friend Bartlett and I made a lot of comedy videos back then so this was a departure. This video is actually far from what the disease actually is, it is more of an example of our joyous adolescence. In 2000 we were in high school, this video was made in about an hour.

If you could find a way to switch from the intended humor of the video to the seriousness of the disease, I highly recommend checking out the real videos on YouTube that are listed below, as well as checking out more current information about CMT on Wikipedia and the MDA website (http://www.mdausa.org) and learn more about this apparently commonly unknown disease. If you have money, please donate it to CMT-related causes.

While there were videos we did with intent to offend and shock people, this was not one of them. My apologies to those of you in the CMT community who got offended, I only hope all these video hits help raise awareness!!

This is hi-larious, theWALLofDTANG! Finally, a video of CMT with a little bit of comedy. I have the disease also and it sucks with the hands coming off and everything. I'm glad not all people with this disease have atrophy in their peripherral comedic nerves. A+++

haha fair enough. I remember in Global History we had to do a project on war, so my partners wrote a play about being underground espionage beatniks, and it was so unrelated to anything historically truthful that it's quite a shame it can't be changed.

Anyway, whatever gets awareness works for me :P

I think it would be easier to create music for something that someone with CMT wrote, I think it would be way more effective and authentic.... if someone could just write a song about how hard it is without awareness and what a world would be like with awareness...

@theWALLofDTANG Go for it, you may make a huge YT hit like "It's Friday"....lol. Even when I talk to a doctor or sometimes a neurologist about my cmt1a, they do not seem to know anything beyond the very basics. Many of them are under the impression that Cmt1a is limited to problems of the arms and legs. I have to try and let them know that this is the MOST COMMON PROBLEM, but in no way does it cover the many things that can be effected with this disease..........they don't seem to believe me.

@tickyul yep. Maybe I could write a song about CMT or something... It seems like the biggest problem with any medical or mental condition is the layman's unawareness. I wish I knew what a broke music producer could do, I really want to help! This did get a lot of hits compared to my other uploads. I do like to write relaxing soothing songs... maybe a song that sooths cmt listeners while education the layman.

@theWALLofDTANG Yeah, it is a subject that does not have a lot of publicity. I tell a doctor that I have Cmt and most of them have never heard of it. And a cure will be very hard to come by, a systemic problem like Cmt will probably require a Genetic (stem cells?) solution.
