Watch Bruce Molsky and Paula Bradley trying to keep from laughing under the surveillance of Brittany Haas.
Would like to know the name of the instrumental if someone out there should know.

  • Hi Paula! Glad you like my videos. Will soon post some more from the same venue. Your are doing a great job with your steady comping and of course your vocal part. I´d love do hear you singing Carter songs!!

  • HI everybody! I'm just seeing these posted now... thanks so much! This was in the middle of a couple week tour and one of our few outdoor shows - colder than we expected that day - and windy! That tune is JP Fraley's Sally Ann. I hope I'm remembering the source correctly. Thanks for the comments about my SC - I don't have many videos of me playing it! I like it!!! Paula

  • @banjosole Hi Paula!

I have uploaded another enjoyable video from your tour in Sweden last year. It´s when you do Red Rocking Chair.

  • @banjosole Hi Paula! I have posted some more videos from this evening.

    Regards, Hans

  • Thank you for your comments. I have among my favourits just included two videos where Bruce Molsky performs both Sail Away Ladies and Sally Ann and I have my doubts about your answers. Wish Bruce would comment. I have played both tunes on the 5-string Scruggs style - yes, I know there´s an ocean between bluegrass and old timey althou I am from Sweden.

  • Hi! I already got 3 DIFFERENT responses from my musician friends and music lovers on Facebook. I will let you know what I find. This is great... I love to see them laughing...

  • @OceanicLoveLetters Hi! Guess that´s often so with folkmusic. They all have different names. Looking forward to hear what your friends come up with.

Have to say also that I love the sound of Paula´s Santa Cruz guitar.

  • This question is related to a different page and song but the same trio from the same performance. I'm hoping to find out what tuning Brittany is using on "Locust in the willow. Help will be greatly apprecitated. I'd love to try to learn it but suspect a special tuning.

  • the tune is indeed "sally ann" but not from texas, from j p fraley, a kentucky fiddler.

  • TN: Pretty sure it's "The Hen Flew Off Into The Woods and Now There Goes That Fox"

OLL: You're pulling my leg, right T? Good one...

MMM: How about "My Cat Chased a Squirrel 'Round a Tree, and Now There's a Tail on My Doorstep."... I think we decided DB is probably right.. related to Sail Away Ladies.

  • DB: Wonderful video - thanks for sharing. I would call the tune "Sally Ann" (maybe a Texas version?) (though there are other tunes by that name and other names for this tune. It's related to Sail Away Ladies - in fact, Rodney Miller plays pretty much this same version, though jazzed-up, on Airplang calling it Sail Away Ladies).

PD: sounds a little like john hartford's "wish we had our time again"
