Here's a simple video showing how I start a Glossostigma elatinoides and Dwarf Hairgrass tank. I'm growing them emersed first before filling up the tank. This might take a few weeks to acheived. So enjoy...

There's more infos and pics at my blog at http://borneosucker.blogspot.com also stay tune at my blog for updates of this project :D

  • how long u left the substrace and sand in water before u put tha plants?

  • @nickdelkis

Actually you can start planting immediately :D ~happy planting!

  • @borneosucker Thank you very much! What song is that?

  • @nickdelkis

...haha, I think it is Souvenirs D'enfance :D

  • Sorry if this is well-known, but are the leaves of Dwarf Baby Tears grown out of water a distinct "emersed form" like those in Cardinal Plant (Lobelia cardinalis)? I'm wondering this because when I first added the latter to my aquarium I had to wait for the broad dark emersed-form leaves to fall off before the small light green submersed-form ones characteristic of the plant emerged. Other plants I've tried that have two different leaves like this were Potamogeton and Alisma species. Thanks!

Yeap, most aquatic plants have somewhat different leaf form when grown emersed. Usually much more robust. And some of them also grow flowers. Good observation :D ~Cheers and have fun planting!

Well thanks for the comment :D.......you can look at the progress from my channel.....chears

  • Well, if you fill your tank completely with water, the pressure on the bed will make it very difficult for roots to make its way. Also it will house a lot of anaerobic bacteria. Could you update on the progress?

  • @d0wee1

Hi, nope, I don't wash the soil, just the sand only :D

  • did you wash the dirt before you added it to the tank?
