  • you shouldn't turn your back to your opponent. Not even after such a knock out. You never know. Besides its somewhat impolite

  • @plowenson

A mawashi geri is simply a circular kick.Depending on your point of impact it may be

Josokutei mawashi geri for hitting with ball of foot, as the traditional version, or

Haisoku mawashi geri for using the instep.

The ushiro simply makes it a reverse rotation and here the sole of the foot (dont kow the name actually) or the heel kakato is used.

uh. just noted the age of the post.

Well I will leave this text for reference anyway.

  • @wopdzordon Come on.. I always do that. Every time i knock my opponent down or what not. I think its disrespectful to stare at them while they are laying down hurt

  • lol even with the pussy body/head protection

  • @joetaicoon LOL.. yeah I realized different karate styles names these kicks defferent :P but without the spin this would be called URA MAWASHI GERI in our style since you're using the backside of the foot. then "USHIRO" just tell you it should be backwards. :)

  • Its hard to see that one coming and it worked a treat.

  • @wopdzordon Yea, i never get that either... at least my teachers are strict in this. No matter how hard or elegant the technique is, after succeeding/not succeeding, you HAVE to remember the proper finish/returning.

I'm finnish, and the word we use for the "finishing" translates straight to "returning", so i don't know the proper term for it.

  • Ushiro uro mavashi was SUPER!!!

  • "if you turn away, you act like you don't take your opponent seriously" Of course...

He dominated his opponent, if you want to be respected you have to be strong.

It is vain to expect the respect when we are defenseless.

Such is the nature of the man.

  • @TheGottox I train Wado-Ryu (WIKF).. so what do you call the Mawash Geri that goes from the opposite side that hits with the backside of the foot? we call it Ura Mawashi Geri since Ura means the backside or hidden side..

btw, Wado-Ryu is based on Shotokan and Jijutsu..

  • very good
