aren't these guys (tool) geniuses.. i mean.. just from their band name...to this song.... they really are providing their words and music as a tool for us to attain some stage of altered enlightenment!! unfortunately i am too bi-dimensional to decipher their work and therefore must look towards people like you to help me understand them better.. so thank you :)

@destruct26 Glad to see someone besides me sees it that way.

Thank you! Ill never listen to this album in its original order again! Awsome just awsome!

errr...still scratching my head...too many drugs in my youth....this would likely overtax my poor noodle if i actually would try to comprehend this concept of fibonacci-spiral-whatever they've inserted into their playlist so i'll stick with enjoying their music on my far shallower and primitive level hehe....it's still great music even on the uninformed instinctual level... };->

"The mystic spiral is created by the ratios of the square roots of 2 and 3. The difference between the ratios of the square root of 3 to the square root of 2 approaches the square root of 5... the difference found oscillates above and below the square root of five. ...This creates a spiral with a radius that increases geometrically and a radial angle that increases arithmetically.. This pattern also leads into the mathematics of harmonics, the musical scale and sound waves...and multidimensional

Your spiral is interesting. I find it more than merely coincidental that the spiral would jump from Lateralus (#9) to Faaip de Oiad (#13). I don't think it's random. The entire mantra throughout the cd has been to not only find spirituality, but the cohesion between body and mind. "Faaip de Oiad", or "The voice of God" in Enochian language, is where the spiral begins to collapse on itself. From that point on the spiral is a mirror, or perhaps indicating mind, spirit, and body have become one.

@samwelljacks on this video/audio excerpt is the actual call from an Art Bell radio show at 4:49 on FAAIP DE OIAD!!!!!!!!!! Tool know what is really going on in this world and are in touch with more than meets the eyes!!!

@Ben74428 this is absolutely amazing and really makes us think of music in higher dimensions and of more importance!

I would like to get a whole cd of this with the blended songs
@Ben74428: Tool has a myriad of ways of making thier fans think. In this case, it's literally outside the box. Within the title song, Lateralus, they use a mathematic code called Fibonacci, which in turn with its' lyrics, tell you to push boundaries of possibilities. This formula creates a spiral, which switches around the original tracklisting to a new tracklisting where the beginnings and ends of each song line up, creating a new way to hear the album. Push the envelope, spiral out.

@samwelljackson: another example: Instead of having one after the other, i played around to realize MANTRA fit perfectly into the beginning of LATERALUS before the main riff started. Same for EON BLUE APOCALYPSE & DISPOSITION. The static from the guitar at the tail end of LATERALUS lines up with the static in the beginning of FAAIP DE OIAD. Just play around and you'll make the connections in order to figure out the times.

@samwelljackson: well, its hard to say based on the fact that a) there are a couple versions of the holy gift out there so the track order is a little different each time, and b) it all depends on how eaich track ends to connect it to the next starting track. For example, the last four guitar plucks in PARABOLA line up with the first four in SCHISM. So what do you do? Line them up over each other? Keep them in tempo one after the other to make eight guitar plucks? Its all up to you.

@MRshotgun1100: That's the burning question wheen comes to TooL, now isn't? I would like to think that they kinda practice what they preach when comes to thier music, and how they want thier listeners to think for themselves. They ARE delibrate, just to what extent?
