UNBOXED: Mystery game #1

So we're trying this thing out where you can guess what game we got in the mail and unboxing them up. We're thinking of making it a regular segment, so let us know!

Here's clues as to what this mystery game is:
1. It's in a DVD case
2. This is a series that's been going on since the SNES (confirmed)
3. This series has not yet had an iteration on the PS3/Xbox 360
4. This is part 1 of 2 in a sub-series within the main series
5. This is a RPG
6. It's not a Square Enix or Square or Enix game

I don't know if you have visited ncsx and gamequestdirect. Both sites have good selection of hard to find games. NCSX specializes in import, whereas gamequestdirect focus mainly on US versions of games.
