You got a PM!

@burtonkidd would love to see a pic of yours. Do you have any to share?
-
Pretty much.
Mainly used 2"x4"x8' and sheets of pine 4'x6'x1/2" (pre glued & cheap) and ripped into strips for finished trim work and 1/2" spruce ply for the base. Turned out just as nice, with 2 coats of clear varnish.

@burtonkidd Did you use the same materials as he did? Did it come out as nice? Trying to build a king size. Let me know thanks

did the same thing last weekend. Spent $90 for material, hardware and beer. :)

I don't have a materials list or a diagram of what we did. I can tell you that we used a standard type wood for the stuff you don't see, and we used pine for the exposed pieces. It has a nice finish. We started with the dimensions of our queen size bed and took it from there. It will help, a bit, if you've got a knack for wood work. Good Luck.

@listermint1 Nice job dude! I'm planning on building a platform bed. The pine looked nice stained, did you end up varnishing at all? I'm thinking of using utile as my wood... Although a fair lot more expensive than pine i think it will look nice. (Also a good mahogany substitute)
Anyways, great job again ;)

@theedgemike You can stain it, then varnish it. They also sell stain/varnish in one... I would do it that way. Less work. Thanks and Good Luck.
