Archaeologists from Egypt and the Dominican Republic next week will begin excavating three sites near the Mediterranean Sea that may contain the tombs of doomed lovers, Cleopatra and Mark Anthony. (April 20)

To put it bluntly, Cleopatra's father was Greek only on his father's side. His mother was an Egyptian concubine. As a result, Cleopatra saw herself as an Egyptian (not as a Greek ruler) and indeed she was.

Interesting, (though not surprisingly) there is little doubt that her father was the son of a concubine. That type of birth was not uncommon at all among the Ptolemies, so no one should be surprised and this is hardly a "revelation."

Alexander the greats lineage being of the the same as Cleopatra. Meaning she was Greek decent, she was an amazing woman, the first of the "gods" to speak Egypt's mother tongue, Greek and Latin, and many more.
