  • RH talks a lot of sense in his withering appraisal of mediocrity that is modern art, Warrhol the chief Charlatan amongst them, Marilyn Monroe equals Campbell Soup Cans equals Elvis fixing a gun, it's a bad sixth grade art student at best and yet Idiots like Mugrabi pay millions, the sad thing is RH know the fella is lying out of his arse, look at his utterly inept way of explaining Warhol and Prince, the cycnical nature of commerce now dictates what's worth millions and RH knows it.

  • The interviewer's remark that Hughes reputation was seen by some as 'conservative' was distracting. It was followed by a difficult question to which Hughes gave an inadequate answer. It was unfair to ask this question, when Hughes only had seconds to reply. Hughes's intention is to assist change in the visual arts, for a long time it has and still is controlled by elitism: international art shows, auction houses and art prizes weaved together for profit. Thanks for posting the video.

  • Thank Mr Hughes, you gave me much courage this rainy day in November. Yes again, the best amongst us need all conviction instead of the worst. There are young people still loving the great beauty of art, even on here. Only today I saw a lovely spoof on Kenneth Clark by an young lady from Austin, Texas. I hope that she keeps on studying art and become a next generation of people who can stay true and frank. Thank you

  • 'one more element in the panorama of human stupidity, waste and vulgarity'

its all our generation are increasingly at risk of being remembered for. we need more people like robert hughes for sure

  • Fix your shirt collar if you wish to comment on aesthetics! Oh, and Matisse was a mediocre talent, I put his fame down to his ability to network, like many so-called geniuses.

  • Well said Mr Hughes !
