To all of you who profess your love for this song, please go and BUY IT! I've had the pleasure of meeting Samba and I know he's hardly made any money from his incredible music because of piracy. Please if you love this music like I do, pay the 99 cents to download the song or buy the whole cd.

"Mama abota ngai alobaki na ngai boyee, "Samba nakokendee, batelango baleki noki basala mokulu naboya yee" (bakima kelasi)
My mother who gave birth to me admonished me when she was about to pass away "Samba I'm dying..take care of your younger siblings and ensure that they complete classes (school)

@Juluka69 yes they were awesome, thanks for the info. :)

@Papasean7 ORIGINAL lead guitar on this song was done by Bibiley Kabakaba . Joseph Okello "Jose" did bass, Vostao Temopele (R.I.P.) was on rhythm. Bibiley is now saved n does gospel music, the bass player Okello relocated to Australia n still active, Samba relocated to the USA n lives in Minneapolis . many of the other original Les Kinois n Virunga band members are now resting in peace, guys like Fataki Lokassa, Kasule Mopepe among others. Great sounds they left us though...

@verosartis the translation is in the CD liner notes to the Virunga Volcano album, and while it may seem passé to buy a physical CD, do it, get online and find it, if I had one favorite record of everything I've ever heard it is that album, its so amazing.
the gist of the lyric are that Samba's mother is dying and she tells him to take care of his siblings for her, he was 12 or so when this happened. The story in the lyrics is as strong as the music. Samba is in the US now and still active !!

Samba & Virunga changed my life with this record, I found it for $2 in a bin and bought it on a whim, i've never been the same. Got to meet and talk with Samba years later, he's a very sweet fellow.
The bass player on this track is super human. That sound.

yes that bass... if it wasn't there the track would probably just fall apart, but at the same time it's all over the place itself - just an amazing piece of music. FYI I dubbed this off an old NME cover tape that I've treasured since '82 - I have heard another version somewhere online but it's a different recording - not so magical to my ears.

Probably my favorite Mapangala song. That guitar blast around 2:50 is majestic.
