In the days prior to television, you had to go to the local cinema to watch films.

This is a great theatrical version of our National Anthem. Produced by MovieTone, it's a patriotic montage of scenes accompanying this performance of The Star-Spangled Banner as sung by Fred Waring and His Pennsylvanians. Enjoy!

  • I can't remember the last time I ever heard it sung so well or with such passion. THIS is how it should be sung and not laden with ridiculous obligato. This brought a tear to my eye.

  • I'm the Curator of the Fred Waring Archives at Penn State. Very Nice video! Adding to our playlist!

  • Great video.

It's sad that Hollywood doesn't do things like this anymore.

    Thanks for posting it.

  • Good luck with the repairs.

I don't know what happened to your original comment. It just disappeared. Repost it if you wish.

  • Howdy! Not much?

Finally got unemployment straightened out. So I'm legal again, I can drive?

Went to drive the truck & it acted like an old mule! So it's geraged & I'm trying to figure it out. It had one hell of a back fire today & stalled in 3-4 intersections.

So betsies down & Scout's out.

    Just another day in paridise!

    DEO VINDICE!
