Protecting an idea for a TV show can be done simply by mailing yourself the idea so that there is a postmarked date, videotaping yourself outlining the idea with a date stamp or registering the idea through an official group or government office. Find ways to copyright an idea with helpful tips from an independent filmmaker in this free video on film.

  • Good information. How do you find out if someone has already registered a similar idea?

  • What about a movie ideas? Do it the same way? Also if you writen a book and trying to trun it into a scrpit will the same copy write stand from the book or should you resend it to be copy writed again in the scrpit form?

  • it is not so much my problem , cuz I don't care if someone steels my ideas ... I am someone that always put a part of me in my ideas so when someone will steel it ... I would not care !
