High Plains Doctor: Healing on the Tibetan Plateau (Trailer)

This is the trailer for HIGH PLAINS DOCTOR, a documentary about a Canadian medical expert and his team on a medical mission in a remote Tibetan town.

Modernization provides great benefits for most people, but for some, it creates displacement, loss of traditional ways and culture, and loss of language and indigenous knowledge. This film trailer shows the selfless work of Dr. Isaac Harry Sobol and his Canadian team as they provide medical services in the remote Tibetan village of Yushu. It will turn out to be Dr. Sobol's last mission in the region, as the village was devastated in an earthquake shortly after the filming. The film provides a rare documentation of a way of life that is fast disappearing.

The film premiered in Canada on the CBC (geo-blocked to Canada) and premiered in the US in competition at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
