Rethink Australia wants to reform the Australian Constitution and Australian politics. We want you have your say about how to get the Australian government and parliament working better. With a federal election happening, we want the general public and all Labor Party, Liberal Party and Australian Greens supporters to make this year the next big turning point in our Federation.
This is my suggestion. Do not touch The Australian Constitution. It gives our citizens legal and Civil protection. The Consitution links our rights to the Magna Carta and common law - The right to be judged by twelve citizens ( a jury). No one person can judge another. What we need is Citizen's Initiated Referendum (CIR) which allows a percentage the population to force the Government to call a referendum and allowed all to have their say. The Switz have the best Government.

I have yet to hear one good reason why we should become a republic. A bunch of feel good idealism, but nothing of real substance. Do people really think democracy will be improved by this. Any new constitution will take power away from the people. It's a warm and fuzzy idea, but in the end the people will lose. Politicians want more power for themselves, not the people. They will say otherwise, but it's not true. It's a massive con!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! When u scrap a country's constitution, u rip the heart out of the country. Let's face it...would anyone actually trust this? Or would we just become a 'yes' country to the UN? and adopt any and all measures the the UN decides on.

I agree some changes may need to be made but if the people of australia knew what was the in the Constitution and how the goverment was ripping them off I don't think the people will be happy.
