Pure Soul Filtered through her voice. IMO no other singer has so much soul. Fantasia doesnt even come close. This song was meant for no one other than Mary. That the thing about soul singers, every note will not be hit, but surely will be felt. And this was Mary's song to WIN an Oscar. This is by far her most soulful song. The grittiness of the content and pain through each note. Mary shined.
