  • what does the grain of a bullet mean? does it mean that if it is 185 grain that it will go farther than a 132? Something like that?

  • its the amount of gunpowder in bullet

  • alright, but what does that do?

  • The more grain there is(the more gunpowder is in a bullet), the bullet will fly the greater distance.

  • @ericvader8 Even though this comment is two years old, bullet grain is the weight of the bullet...not the amount of gunpowder..you think someone uploading this video would know that simple fact

  • @RisBo21 No, the grain of a bullet is the weight (in grains) of the projectile. The more grains, the heavier the projectile is and the greater the kinetic energy on impact, but a lighter grain projectile will have a flatter trajectory. It's the individuals job to find the best meeting ground between the two for a given situation. Grain has nothing to do with powder charge, which is measured most often in Grams.

  • @ericvader8 The grain is not the gun powder. The grain is the size and weight of the bullet. 168gr is standards M24 7.62(.308) bullet for the US military snipers. There are heavier and there are lighter bullets. Most people practice with the cheaper lighter bullets. But the best match grade weight for the 308s are the 168gr.

  • wats paralax?????

  • @RisBo21

    Dear God NO!!!

its the weight of the bullet (and only the projectile itself) in grains

the powder measurement is not of concern in commercial ammunition to the shooter as all ammo manufacturers will give you the FPS (feet per second) velocity which is more important that powder load or charge amount

how far a bullet will travel is variable based on the weight/velocity/barrel length of the rifle used/wind/and other factors

  • @MrSbc327 Grain can refer to 2 things in ammo: 1) Weight of the bullet. and 2) Amount of gunpowder contained in the case.

  • are you guys serious at the top?? grains doesn't mean the amount of powder!!!!

  • @RisBo21 the grain of the bullet is not the amount of gunpowder in the casing, it is the weight of the projectile., also though, powder is measured in grains, but when speakin in generics about bullet grain, it means the weight of the bullet, not the weight of the powder

  • i hunt so i now about guns . the grain its how big the lead isthe higher the gtain the hevyer the bullet
