Von Cello continues to do the impossible! Here the artist known mostly for his rock cello playing demonstrates how beautiful the cello can sound when played like a solo jazz guitar. Listen to his gentle, mellow "celtar" as it sings the melody of this Gershwin classic, while at the same time covering the chromatic bass line throughout. Magic!

  • @cloud233 It never could! ;-)

  • voncello,

very creative, I have not seen anyone play the cello like that!...only here at YouTube conservatory of music...Thanks for Posting Maestro.

    Love that Ukulele-Cello-Gutiar Style.

  • I call it "Celtar".

  • Where did you go to College?

  • I got a Master of Music from Manhattan School of Music, and also studied with teachers from Juilliard ... but I didn't learn how to play like this from any of them! ;-)

  • Fan in about 30 seconds.

I have played forever. You take the cello to an entirely new level.

    I love Heavy Metal Cello

    You are a Genius.

  • Pure fun and silliness. Love it. :)

  • @mojoxrisin I see you removed your comment but I wasn't offended. Everyone has the right to his opinion. When Jimi Hendrix started making his guitar sound like a motorcycle, a machine gun and a bomb there were a lot of people who said he was wrong to play the guitar like that. However he influenced a generation and is now revered by many as one of the greatest guitarists who ever lived. Critics also complained that Bach was destroying the melody with all his flourishes. I'm in good company. :-)

  • whenever i pick my cello up to practise I always start playing it on my lap like this- probably because I play guitar more often :)
