Not only was she a very stunning beautiful woman, but she was also very underrated as an actress.

Is there an official Blaxploitation Cinema Museum/Collection anywhere? Video stores only carry selected titles. Some of the movies are actually quite good. I love Pam Grier, but they had her overact too much, so I find her movies uncomfortable to watch at times.

I think former talk show host Tony Brown coined the term "Blaxploitation" for obvious reasons.

I watched lots of these movies. Many of them are quite good. They're just like any other movie, just with all-Black casts.

it was because the white-run studios churned out an endless stream of cheapie all black cast movies just for the black dollar. these movies were generally subpar with only camp value. "Cleopatra" was one of the better ones, and as much as I love this movie, it is not all that great, and it was a Warner Bros. picture. The ones that Pam Grier made had even smaller budgets and were produced by Roger Corman.

Yea I agree with what you are saying, but my mom told me that black movies in the 70's were very popular I guess because blacks finally had something they could look at. I can look at movies like this all day, but BET needs to be taking off the air

Your mother's right, they were popular-otherwise the studios wouldn't have churned them out-they were a cash cow. I certainly cannot blame the Black community for going to them-they were the only chance at the time to see Black characters as heroes on the big screen.
