Sarah Siddons is a 1920's Metropolitan Line electric loco, named after a famous actress. I got to see her at the London Transport Heritage Day shuttling between Amersham, Watford and Harrow on 14th September 2008.
I remember well takeing a cab ride many years back at Steam on the MET, fantastic ride, all the nosies of the eletraical equipment and infact there not realy being a defined cab as such, just a driving position at each end of the LOCO
I was given a wonderfull piece of advice by i think retired chap who had been intermental in keeping her on the juice
"if its not painted, dont touch it, as its most likely got 600 volts on it"

How quintissentially British...
You're about to drive a historic locomotive and the line controller is more concerned about how one takes one's tea !
I have many friends from the UK and the catchcry is "Is the kettle on and if not, why not !?".
I'm not a rail fan as such, but just LOVE that design. Quite futuristic for the 1920s and still timeless today... Well done lads.

I first saw Sarah running out of acton town depot when I was still a signals apprentice so that would have been between 72-77.
She was looking well used back then, so nice to see the restoration, thank you.
