PT Cruiser engine mounts are not designed to last very long. This is just a rough look at what worn mounts can look like. It is reasonably an easy job to do, BUT if you are going to replace the 3rd mount, which is more or less centre of the motor, be prepared to drop the motor to change it. There is next to no room to even undo, let alone removing and replacing the mid mount. ALL 3 mounts are on the one side of the engine, Why 3??? I dont know but dont be shy to try do it yourself. As top and bottom are reasonably easy to change.
Why i put this together, was because i couldnt find next to no info on the PT,s engine mounts, so this will give a very rough look at how it all goes.

  • Need to do the same to my(P.T.Cruiser) engine...replace them. I think that I will go 'solid-motor-mounts', this time. Just would like to know what the out come(testimonies) of the people who have had them replaced with solid motor mounts'.

  • @Jaimevee90033 Not sure mate what you mean by "SOLID MOUNTS", but my way of thinking is you need to have some sort of cushioning. Years ago i raced stockcars and i was actually going to solid mount the engine BUT.... thinking bout it, if you were to have a good smash where the engine got a good whack, i can see solid mounts ripping the side out of the engine block. Not only that, all the motor movement, vibration will also run thru the chassis and into the cockpit so to speak.

  • @djmskinart - Hey buddy listen I have the 01 PT, I was watching your video(which is great) and started changing my motor mount. I started with the upper mount first, until I ran to a problem, The 18mm screw does not want to come out! Its like if it's stripped or something. I keep trying but I reach in and try to unscrew but I feel it in the bottom every time I try to unscrew it. Any ideas?

  • @MrzBaez1092006 Hey mate, hopefully you have supported the engine (with a jack) BEFORE you started to undo the mounts?? Im NO expert but, couple things i would try would be to get a wide flat screwdriver and just squeeze it under the flare of the 18mm bolt, put pressure on it, as if you are lifting it up and at the same time, try undoing the bolt with ya socket on it. If not, you might need to drill down centre of bolt and get a ezy-out bit or

  • get a a good set of vice grips on the head and at the same time turning it, lift at the same time. Nothing worse when threads go or bind up. Sounds like you will have to re-thread the hole ONCE you get it out. Good luck.

  • @Jaimevee90033 The mounts that i pulled out of this PT were shitful, too much empty space in the rubber, Solid rubber would be far better with no gaps.
