Mario Lanza singing The Desert Song for his Coca-Cola Show radio broadcast...
Recorded 14th August 1951 at Radio Recorders Studio, Hollywood; orchestra conducted by Ray Sinatra) for the CBS Coca-Cola radio show - broadcast date 9th September 1951(sources: Mario Lanza - An American Tragedy by Armando Cesari; Mario Lanza - A Biography by Derek Mannering)
Although his voice is laboured, I prefer Lanza's approach in his 1959 recording to this(also this sounds as if it's in a slightly higher key here), but still, a great recording...
Please enjoy, rate and comment!!
Mario Lanza died more than 50 years ago, and here we are, still listening to his music! For the people who made negative comments about his vocal abilities, and consider themselves singers/musicians .. do we even know who you are during your own lifetime, to evaluate your talent?!

Mario Lanza was the greatest male singer ever no matter what he sang or when it was wonderful

Everyone needs to remember that the radio broadcasts were possible because he recorded with long-time associates. However, they were spontaneous and largely, unrehearsed. RCA flooded the market with ANYTHING they had on file after his death.

Kind of agree with some of the comments. This was a Lanza Coke Show recording and it was common practice to end on a very high note. This isn't one of his best

This is a very poor example of Mario Lanza's singing.

I like Mario Lanza. He has a distinct style. He has been very popular in the US.

More Mario Lanza rubbish. Music plays in one key, He sings in another, listen to the last note. Who could finalize such a recording?
