  • @tommccawley if ur leaning on one leg forward u have balance therfore its very dificult to do the sweep u wuld have to use brute strength to make them fall wen an opponent stand with square feet and u pull their gi their balance is totaly gone and they will fall easily and it will feel effortless....however to really understand the concept of squre feet opposed to the "weakened side" is best explained in action my sensei did the move on me both ways and i understood it

  • tks for the tip on foot transfer of weight. but why is it easier to throw uke when his feet are widened by the sweep ? Or are you weakened one side (the attacked side) of the base by splitting it from the non-swept leg ?
