Best Practices Winner at the Washington Governor's Economic and Workforce Development Conference, the YouthCares Occupational Skills Center (Seattle/King County) is a community-based non-profit providing services to homeless youth in six sites in the greater Seattle area. Youthcare formed a public/private partnership — the Occupational Skills Center — to increase education and employment opportunities for homeless and disconnected youth. The Center provides high school completion, college preparation, and a range of occupational skills training and internships for homeless and at-risk youth. It is the only occupational skills and education program targeting youth in the Seattle/King County area.
