to be honest, i'm so insanely glad they didn't go with neal avron. based on a true story is a FANTASTIC record.

i agree that its an epic album all in all no question.

BUT if they had made it as big as fall out boy, yes they probably gotten the label of "sell outs", yes they would have probably gained a few haters in the process. but in the end they would have better off and we would have gotten the chance to watch them do their own thing later on. was it worth it? idk but u have to take that in to concideration

Welllll I don't know. If they had gone with Neal Avron the integrity of their music would have been jeapordized, and the label would have kept pressuring them to create along the wave of the trend if they just caved into their will. Then you have an unhappy band who isn't doing what they want, and unhappy fan who know they aren't. I blame the music industry for the "need" to follow music fads, and Geffen for not pushing the record. Record labels are supposed to work with artists, not against em.
