  • The government is going to pay $50 per feral dog shot soon I believe. It was in the news last month. You will be rich! :-)

  • guard dogs? how pointless. they do nothing to help the native fauna. there should be far more people employed to hunt and shoot ALL feral trash in Australia. while we sit on our hands the farmers and all native fauna suffer and i really dont think it will improve due to our pissweak pollies

  • @limdaf Wild dogs and feral cats kill over 300 million native animals every year, not to mention domestic animals and the fact that they've nearly wiped out the sheep industry, Protect them you say???? Australia will have NO native animals left if we protect the wild dog. It has no place in this eco system. And if you can't get that though your thick skull, we don't want you to visit.

  • @mandy101ful

They don't deserve to die anymore than you do. Look into how the stuff you buy at the store is protected from pests. They are killed in ways much worse than these dogs.

  • @brothersixteen guard dogs wont stop these feral/crossbred dogs from breeding and killing native animals. and these dogs get into big packs of 12+ animals. any endangered native animals in australia can't be let back into the bush they have to be in a fenced area to protect them from these dogs. and what farmers who are in there 50s and are thinking about retiring when they hit 60. would they want to buy these dogs only to have to give them to someone else when they retire.

  • In namibia the world wild life funds have been providing kangal dogs for the native farmers to protect their goats for more a decade. The kangal dog is very successful. A similar program is offered to farmers in the mountain in spain and it is successful. i think it would work in austratlia too. maybe australian farmers never heard of the employment of flock guards.

  • People shouldn't just let their dogs into the wild if they dont want them anymore. That way we wouldn't have their problem.

I also feel bad for the native dingoes, their population must be totally destroyed now because of feral dogs. *sigh*
