ON THE BLOCK: FATIMA ... Who says you have to be an adult to be a cameraperson, soundperson or interviewer?
ON THE BLOCK: FATIMA, was a documentary shot by children in Fatima Mansions flat complex in Dublin over a period of three years with children between the ages of 8 and 12 heading out as documentary makers to film things that fired their imagination.
On The Block: Fatima has been nominated for numerous awards since its broadcast in December 2006, including the prestigious American Peabody Awards and the Prix Jeunesse in Munich.
It was also awarded the Prix Danube Bratislava in 2007 and received the award for Young Peoples television at the Celtic Film Festival in April 2008.

Excellent stuff. Anyone who claims children from disadvantaged areas can never contribute to society should take a look at this. Well done!! Theres more character here than in the whole of RTE. And the fact that young kids from the area where it was shot made it brings a smile to my face.
