Taking us back through the three stages of his life, Jesse Kailin Eliasen breaks through hard times and emotional moments that lead him to become the man he is today. Jesse tells short stories and relives moments of triumphant events to classic failures, all of which contributed to make him the person he is now. "All matter has purpose, and purpose is matter so it matters."
We head back to the 1990's. Jesse takes us to his childhood grade school and relives embarrassing moments, from being bullied to becoming a social outcast. Back before there was any real help in the education system for children with learning disabilities. Jesse struggles greatly in the area of scholastics and is confused as to why the other students understand and he doesn't. For years, Jesse concealed his individuality, afraid that no one would understand. Mid way through grade six, Jesse had a child hood friend turn on him, all over a girl. This so-called friend knew of Jesse's struggles and school hardships and began to spread rumors. These rumors are what lead to Jesse becoming a social outcast, which continued through the remainder of his grade school years.
When teen years hit and Jesse entered secondary school, Jesse chose to attend a vocational school with a more "hands on" approach for people like him. He thought that he would fit in better, but was sadly mistaken by his choice. Jesse's first year of high school altered his personality along with his drive and focuses forever. "What was so traumatic to alter this honest and kind hearted boy to follow the path that he did?" Jesse describes not his life story but just events that occurred for him to have the outlook he does today. Jesse relives terrible moments from street fights to vandalism to pushing dope. Jesse shares his journey with us. From a life of secrecy to what we see...Because Jesse has always felt that there are two sides to him. After high school and still living at home with his parents, he overcomes a lot of obstacles and roadblocks in his life. Jesse makes a drastic change, a complete about face.
He suddenly up and goes solo, leaving some of his oldest friends behind. After a series of events, Jesse comes to a realization, a moment of clarity where everything makes sense. When that movement happened Jesse knew there had to be changes, he just didn't know where to start. Jesse finds himself heading back to school to further his education. Being a couple years out of school, Jesse was expecting something different for his coming back to the classroom. Jesse shares his feelings of going back to the classroom, still hiding his frustrations in his education. Jesse tells us how hard it was to hide his struggles and when they found out, how they made him feel. How does the person with two legs and walking, look at that person in a wheel chair that can't walk? It's the same way people look at me.
Over the years Jesse learns to deal with his so-called disability... but doesn't use it as a crutch. Jesse returns to his creative roots and continues where he left off, "wanting to be a director". Jesse again makes a life change, and finds himself headed to London to attend School.... Maybe for one last time to achieve success. Still, Jesse finds that it's not what he expected but this is the path he must follow. Jesse struggles with the social aspect this time around and can't seem to ever find his place among friends. Still, Jesse continues to be focused and determined to make a difference, not just in his life but his families as well. Jesse imagines his family's name up in lights, always remembered and always there.
