@chaosinhell666 yes I know the charts, and all about willow. I don't buy something I can make myself so I'm limited to what I can find locally. Balsa is expensive.... I looked at charts, and they said cottonwood is a great choice as well. I have lots of cottonwood, so we'll see! I collect xmas tree's so i have lots of pine after xmas, and just collect what I can find all season.

@chaosinhell666 I let everyone make different holes in paint can lids, and had a lot of great results of jet like pressure of the smoke coming out. The best one so far for a paint can size was 2 holes spaced a lil over an inch apart. Usually stick about 2 or 3 paintcans in my pit but I found larger stainless steel container to use as a cruicible to triple results. Have lots of cottonwood and pine, haven't tried cottonwood so looking for stronger bp than traditional pine 4 me.

id suggest putting togetther a new retort as u have alot of holes and if its getting any fire sucked in or fire is started in small bits on the inside like on and off u will get ash in your charcoal witch is fine if u plan on using this for the bbq but for fast bp u want to cook it under pressure

Nice video-- It looks to me as though you could add a second sealed can over the one inside the outer barrel-- double your production capacity per burn... Mike

Nice music :)
You need to put the lid on and a smoke stack.. the stack will create a suction action to suck more air in through the bottom. the whole process will go much quicker.

@jeff61177
Thank you. I intended to make the stack, but I was out of time, so I decided to fire it this way.
