How did I get so far gone
Where do I belong
And where in the world did I ever go wrong
If I took the time to replace
What my mind erased
I still feel as if I'm here but I'm gone
Porched up in a rocking-chair
With my feet all bare
Rolling my blunt in a cigar wrap
Live an adolescent mind
never do take the time
Waiting for my high, quiet as it's kept
How did I get so far gone
Where do I belong
And where in the world did I ever go wrong
If I took the time to replace
What my mind erased
I still feel as if I'm here but I'm gone
Mama told me I was best
Argue and punch in my chest
Son now be strong, let me take you home
I'd see in her eyes so sincere
Screaming, what got me here
Standing in the world and with my mind all blown
How did I get so far gone
Where do I belong
And where in the world did I ever go wrong
If I took the time to replace
What my mind erased
I still feel as if I'm here but I'm gone
How did I get so far gone
Where do I belong
And where in the world did I ever go wrong
If I took the time to replace
What my mind erased
I still feel as if I'm here but I'm gone
I do nothing but waste all my time
Leaving the world behind
Smoking my crack just to keep me high
Around the boys I play my part rough
Keep myself tough enough
Never to cry
Don't really want to die
How did I get so far gone
Where do I belong
And where in the world did I ever go wrong
If I took the time to replace
What my mind erased
I still feel as if I'm here but I'm gone
How did I get so far gone
Where do I belong
And where in the world did I ever go wrong
If I took the time to replace
What my mind erased
I still feel as if I'm here but I'm gone

  • yea i this this guy might well be one of the best if not the best

  • Gives me chills! Knowing what this genius went through, yet he still kept pushing.

  • there was no one better. live on brother

  • @worldwideMCM Not mistakes......Ostriches. Bury your head in the sand and pretend that the world is a perfect place and mental trains can't be derailed by the enforced madness caused by the ELITE 1%.

One Day we ALL will fully appreciate the wisdom of the brothers who tried to warn us such as Brother Mayfield, Gil Scott-Heron, and the ones who unlike today's rappers were singing warning, not praise of forced insanity.

    PEACE

  • duke was on a whole other level...Curtis was the man indeed...respected by all...one of the few socially conscious out there and stayed that way until the casket dropped.

  • recorded this whole album, lying on his back, paralysed from the neck down. a great man indeed.
