"This ad, sponsored by a 501(c)4 organization called the Defense of Democracies, which is affiliated with the ostensibly nonpartisan Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, began airing in Rep. Tim Walz's (D-Minn) district on Friday February 22, 2008."
Wow, that ad is obnoxiously misleading! Intercept al Quaida communications? If that's the case they can get an instant temporary warrant, and in 1 week, a long term warrant.
The provisions this ad refers to, in no way, allow us to spy on al Quaida any better than we can otherwise. They just allow them to spy on international calls, without a warrant, and indemnify the Telecom companies that allowed the illegal wiretapping.
Defense of Democracy my ass.
