I do love my S3, but it has a frustratingly small buffer. In this video I demonstrate the small buffer in continuous shot mode, and then present a short shadow puppetry performance which was inspired by my frustration.

Timings from DPreview. I shot this in wide dynamic range, RAW, at 1/180. It's not so bad with standard dynamic range, but that eliminates one of the camera's very few USPs.

Shot for a short series of blog posts about the camera:

  • Oh so pity... :-( that's bad news for me.

But what about the color rendition? In my Nikon D90, red tones appears sometimes "posterized". I heard that Fuji S Pro series it can solve this problem.

  • @polimero It has a slight greeny-red bias - there are some samples in the blog posts linked above - but you can always bring back overexposed reds, which is nice.

  • :O!!!!

Holy sh... :-/ Im looking in eBay for some Fuji S3 in order to use as 2dn body (now I have a Nikon D90) but this appears to be TOO slow.

  • @polimero It was the camera's big flaw - the raw files are 24mb each and the camera just can't cope with them. Even if you shoot semi-automatic, it conks out after about four shots. And there's no indicator in the viewfinder that the buffer has filled up. The S5 is apparently much faster.

  • it's a bummer that they didn't make this camera fire faster.
