Live recording of the Dream Syndicate in Chicago at Cabaret Metro Nov 26 1988
I was the Tour Manager and Sound Eng for the Dream Syndicate on the 1988 Ghost Stories Tour.
I recorded several shows on that tour this being one and having recently
retired from the road have begun to edit, clean up and fix these recordings
to make them sound better as board tapes are not the most dynamic recordings
and are usually made by the Sound Eng to critique his mix and not for listening purposes.
Their not big and fat like it was in the room the night of the show because they lack the ambiance of the stage volume and room and tend to be a bit subdued and flat.
However with the Computer editing software available these days I can put the dynamics back in the performance as well as clean them up removing buzz's, noise's, even feedback and other artifacts present in old cassette recordings.
If you are a Dream Syndicate fan this is the best (bootleg) recording you will hear of them in their heyday. I have listened to many bootleg recording's of this tour done by folks with small tape recorders in the audience and they just sound horrible.
These restorations should make fans very happy.
