I got to go into the zoo keepers behind the scenes building with my veterinary school. These lions were in their holding pen. I could not even take in how massive they are, and these are only lioness's. It's insane how huge they are and how you have no idea until you see them in person, 2 feet away. You can use the at least 6 foot tall zoo keeper in the blue shirt to help you judge their size.
They were pacing back and forth and staring when on the right side at a toddler (they wanted to eat him). They were friendly with their keeper since they've known him since birth.
It was an experience i'll never forget. One day I will work with animals like them.

  • Actually they haven't known Mark since birth. They were rescued from Westmoreland county.

  • awww That's Kadie and Mhina! They were hand raised, so they love a little scratching now and then.
