  • will the gulf oil spill and other environmental issue's the church has taken a stand as well, the pope is now looking for a hybrid car. This and other issue's are liberal by definition. The church has been politically neutral. liberal on some issues and conservative on others. So, being in lock step with the church does not make you conservative or liberal

  • @aarronsmith Well liberal in politics and those issues isn't all bad, depending on the issue. But when it comes to our Catholic faith, it's always better to be more traditional and conservative than liberal. I forget which apparition it was, but in one, Our Lady spoke of how few people make it to heaven these days compared to the Middle Ages, no doubt due to the liberalism of reason.

  • I saw a short documentary on a woman who faked being a man to become a priest, and apparently she became pope, but it's still being argued, this happened around 1100-1500, I think, but I'm not 100%. This is an interesting topic and I'm on the fence. I think that if your views differ somewhat from the Church, then you can still be Catholic. You just have to look at priests and find out what their views are, and honestly, they are as varied as the peoples', both "liberal" and "conservative"....

  • @archie157 *applause*

  • God gave us free will to think as we choose. No Church is going to tell me I'm not a Christian because I may disagree with their stance on, say, gay marriage. I can disagree with certain moral teachings of the Church and still be a faithful, good, humble, and selfless follower of Christ. I was raised Catholic and agree with the Catholic dogma (of the Trinity, praying to the saints, emphasis on Mary, etc.), and consider myself Catholic. With all due respect, I must disagree.

  • @singswithwind Scripture also says that you shall not eat shellfish or pork, that the Sun revolves around the Earth, that you cannot wear gold and that men without testicles are not permitted in church. Are these things that you believe to be true? I'm guessing you don't. If, in fact, you don't believe these things, then you too are picking and choosing which parts of scripture to live by. I am Catholic, but I believe that a healthy dose of common sense never hurts. Live the way Christ taught.

  • "I was raised to believe that you could question the church and still be a Catholic." -Stephen Colbert (a devout Catholic).

  • The Church does need to change! I am a Catholic, but that doesn't mean I cannot disagree with certain stances the Church takes. We should distinguish between what Christ said and did and what is simply tradition for tradition's sake. You may not consider the exclusion of woman to the priesthood sexist, but by definition it is. A woman is not afforded the same opportunity as a man. You may not think it is wrong, but that doesn't change the reality.

  • @singswithwind You + millions of others want to make up their own church ,do what makes them feel good ,call themselves catholic and think they are going to heaven. That's your choice. I am not saying all changes are wrong. As long as it is not against scripture or Jesus's teaching. It is when you condone things like gay marrages, homosexuality, abortion,bi racial marriages etc. that is clearly against scriptures ,you are playing with fire .

  • @mcproductions91 Now who is name calling ? We all have a choice, just like Adam and Eve did.Doing things just because it is acceptable in modern society does not make it right ,maybe in your head but not according to God's laws.

  • mcproductions91 - your an idiot ,the Roman Catholic Church is the one true church. If you change it to conform to society, it is not longer catholic
