Garaje Olimpo

El Olimpo fue un campo de tormento y desapariciones durante sólo seis meses, entre agosto de 1978 y enero de 1979. Seis meses apenas y, sin embargo, 700 personas fueron allí atormentadas o asesinadas.

In the 70's, eighteen year-old Maria Fabiani lives with her French mother Diane in an old house in Buenos Aires, subletting rooms and giving classes to illiterate adults in the slums. When the teenager is abducted in her house by the Argentinean army accused of subversion, her mother seeks her out in the 23rd Precinct where one of the military without uniform tells her that they are heading with Maria. While Diane desperately tries to find information about her daughter, Maria is submitted to torture in the hideous underground of the Garage Olimpo.

I can't even begin to imagine the amount of pain she went through. And for how many hours?? Such a beautiful girl. Even though the torture is horrific, I think they should have shown some of it in the movie; for impact, not gratuity.

It's shocking to think that women are being tortured in this way. Most of the time the outside world is kept in the dark of such things, but it does still happen, even though our governments insist it does not.
